Linode is a Linux VPS. The email results are a different product.

Linode sells virtual machines. You get a Linux box, an IP, SSH, and a bill. Akamai owns it now. The plans we track start at the Nanode 1 GB for $5/mo, then shared 2 GB and 4 GB, plus a dedicated tier when noisy neighbors annoy you.

A lot of searches say Linode email hosting. That is not this product. If you need mailboxes, use an email host. If you need a server for an app, a database, or Docker, compare Linode plans and pricing — not an inbox SKU.

When we would buy it: you already use the API, or included transfer and Akamai's network matter more than saving a couple of dollars. When we would not: pure EU price (Hetzner) or the cheapest US entry week (often Vultr).
